I was in a discussion on http://www.facebook.com/aspergersawarenesspage about figures of speach.
Several that one writer didn't like were "I could have died laughing" or "I'm as serious as a heart attack".
Before you "die laughing", you'll probably "bust a gut laughing" and then "laugh your head off".
Very violent sayings.

I don't ever use those sayings. And I have a hard time when others use them. Just curious...Do you see things in pictures? Like if someone said "laugh your head off" do you picture it? I sometimes do and I think that deepens my dislike for violent sayings.
ReplyDeleteYes, I see the pictures. The struggle is not to talk about what I see in my mind. It would get annoying to those around me.
